Asana Project Management [A Team Member's Perspective!]
We all know that I love project management tools and that I particularly love Asana, but I’m just one person! I thought it might be useful to hear from one of my team members for another perspective on the tool within the context of our educational consulting practice. I asked Jennifer, one of my outstanding essay coaches, to weigh in on her experience with Asana. Thanks for weighing in, Jennifer!
At DC College Counseling, we always ask ourselves: “How can we do this better?”
Whether in regards to serving families or improving processes behind the scenes, there is always room for improvement and we strive for it each day. Under Colleen’s leadership, all of our team members and essay coaches began using Asana in our office at the beginning of 2019 to improve our project management and increase efficiency.
Two words: game changer. No longer did we need to send emails back and forth when clients schedule new appointments, nor did we need to send out reminders for lesson plan assignments or progress updates. I simply login to Asana and can see all of the tasks I need to complete and by which date. Even better, I can share tasks or tag other team members in a project without drafting an email with further explanation.
Asana encourages collaboration between Colleen, our administrative assistants, the other essay coaches and myself, as it’s incredibly easy to ask them to weigh in with their opinions whenever it is needed. As an essay coach, this system has enabled me to spend more time on what matters most – my students.
Our team’s productivity is at an all time high. Thanks to Asana, we’ve streamlined our business operations, which has given us the capability to increase the number of families with whom we work and provide our clients with greater flexibility when it comes to meeting choices.
Note from Colleen: In case anyone is wondering, we used Trello for project management before Asana. There are pros and cons to both tools, but Asana was ultimately a much better fit for our team.
